Last month I received two tempting offers. One business (the rumors are true, I've returned to the business world), and the other pleasure – an invitation to a private visit to the Galil Mountain Winery with friends and lots of wine.
After a year of achieving dreams and recalculating my route, it finally happened! All the dots joined into a line, and the symbolic timing proved to me that I cannot escape from myself. I'm a career woman, who finds interest and challenges in the business environment, but I'm also an uncompromising hedonist. I love fashion, beauty and style. In short, "both this and that!" So, there's no need to give up one for the other.
When the day came, I leapt out of bed excitedly that Friday morning (assuming that 05:00 is considered morning), I packed a few things… something simple, you know ;-), and went north with my friends.
I don't know about you, but unfortunately I haven't had the chance to travel to Galilee, or to commune with nature, for a long time. So the green, breathtaking road to Galil Mountain Winery, which is just next to Kibbutz Yiron, was as exciting as a visit to a distant land. Add to that the knowledge that somewhere in that vineyard a rich selection of cheeses and wonderful wine was waiting for us, and that makes 11:00 in the morning a legitimate time for plenty of drinking… or as I always say, "it just happened!"
After a delicious breakfast and after we had enjoyed the young wines – Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Red Galil Mountains, we arrived at the winery as three muzzy, happy and cheerful women. You can probably imagine the high heels and flouncy dresses encountering the work boots, khaki trousers and surprised expression of the chief winemaker. But hey ho, there's nothing that a good wine can't solve! So, we had a bit more of the Sauvignon Blanc (Galil Winery style of course), only to make absolutely certain which wine should start the new year. That's us – professional and thorough!
The fabulous wines we tasted were aromatic, rich and tasty, so it was really hard to choose between them. But when I got back to the city, I was a little sorry that I had been too dazed to bring a few bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon and Viognier back with me from the winery.
So that's it, try it at home, and may we all have a good and sweet new year, full of love, happiness and good wine!
THANK YOU: Galil Mountain winery for your beautiful hospitality and great wine!
