Congratulations! Your best friend is getting married (or your sister, brother, boss… it doesn’t really matter) you want to look stunning… but then, these annoying voices start swirling around in your head – “I have to find a unique dress. Dress?! Why a dress? All the girls are gonna wear dresses. Overalls! Yes, that's it. Tight black overalls. Black?! Probably everyone’s gonna wear black. I need color! Something fresh, interesting, stylish! And most important, it should look effortless! I have to sparkle! But I have nothing to wear!!!”
After an “urgent” consultation with over five WhatsApp groups, you free up some time for yourself and go out on your mission to find the perfect look, all the while promising yourself you won’t eat sugar and carbs.
Full of excitement you go into the first store that was recommended to you, and stand there like a kid in a candy shop. From beyond the computer screen a young lady looks over at you. She mumbles a sentence with complete lack of desire, as if her begging look is saying “leave me alone, I have finals on my mind”. But you, what do you care?! Completely motivated to devour those shelves you answer, “all good!” and start browsing fiercely. Between the proudly hanging coat hangers, a cute dress, a cheeky skirt, a dressy top, but none of these items are what you are looking for. “Doesn’t matter, it’s only the first store”, you say to yourself cheerfully and optimistically go on your way to conquer the next destination.
Ten stores and two broken legs later, you sit down, broken, on a street bench. Take a peek at your phone to make sure you didn’t accidentally miss a shop that was recommended… but alas, no, you have been to them all. You gather up the last of your energy and go on a full blown online investigation – Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest… but nothing. Not even a remotely interesting dress found.
You sigh with disappointment, look up at the sky (maybe there you will find salvation) and then, it happens! From beyond the shiny glittering window front, you see it, smiling, colorful and tempting. You jump up joyfully, enter the store skipping and turn to the sales lady saying – “give me one scoop of pistachio and one halva”. Undoubtedly the most delicious ice cream you have ever eaten.
Good luck to us all and most importantly – Congratulation!
