Tel Aviv, Tel Aviv.
What hasn't been written about this amazing city?! "A Fashion capital", "a beating heart", "a bubble"…
Fashion Week was held last week in Tel Aviv and Israel's finest fashion designers (and esteemed guests from overseas) gathered here for three days to present the fruits of their labour to buyers, journalists, fashion bloggers and other guests.
After finding a solution to the eternal question – "what to wear ???" I made it to some of the shows, and in this short time I was able to connect with them after work hours.
It was like walking into Alice's Wonderland, or in this case – Gindi and Motty Reif's wonderland. A festive red carpet welcomed the guests and spread far to reach the exhibition hall, as if marking the border between everyday reality and fantasy. The more I walked along this magical carpet, I felt myself leaving behind my thoughts of work and routine, felt myself relaxing from the everyday tension and anxiety that surrounded me, following last week's news reports, and found myself diving into another world.
The foyer to the show was a fashion show in itself. The array of colours, textures, patterns and shapes were worn by the guests who came to celebrate fashion in spite of the situation. I walked around among the guests and couldn't help thinking of the designers behind the scenes. Months of creation, hard work under lots of pressure and stress all pushed in to one hour of craziness to be judged by an audience that has already seen it all. I thought of the courage and strength needed to put yourself in the middle of town square and prosecute your talent.
As a show of appreciation to the talented designers, I decided to conduct my own fashion show and display on the runway the pieces I loved and love to wear each morning for work.
Enjoy!
