The rumors are that the Israeli fashion industry is a closed, competitive and alienated field.
"It's all personal!" A colleague once told me during a professional debate we had. Despite the rumors, I decided to avoid prejudices and stick to the good. I was convinced that I would meet good people along the way … Evidently, optimism is the name of the game.
One of the first women to blossom, and that was happy to cooperate with me, was fashion designer Einav Zucker, who owns the fashion brand named – Zucker. My blog was only a few months old (between you and me, there was a time when my mom and her friends were my only followers), but Einav didn’t set conditions or ask any questions. She smiled politely and invited me to her charming studio. Today, two years later, I decided to give this talented designer a place of honor in my Career Women's Club, which is a source of inspiration for me.
So, beyond Einav's exact and uncompromising style, she is a Shenkar College graduate with honors, who won first place in the international design competition called “I’s One” for a collection she designed for "Diesel". In the past, Einav designed Diesel’s global women's collection and the "Diesel Gallery" collection. Today, as a mother of three, nine-year-old twins and a one-year-old baby, Einav and her sister Hadas hold the "Zucker" brand. Only God knows how she does it!
"The Zucker brand was designed to meet the basic needs of an urban, meticulous and trendy woman, who wants to build a wardrobe made up of quality, timeless, non-seasonal elements that are not influenced by the constantly changing trends", That’s how the sisters described the brand, a sum up of their design vision, quality and aesthetics. This statement intrigued me, so I decided to ask Einav a few questions –
Where will we find you every morning at Eight-thirty?
"At this time, I usually leave the gym for my studio. Trying to keep up a morning fitness routine before work".
If you weren't owner and designer at ZUCKER, what you would be?
"I would most certainly be independent with a brand / business from the design field".
What is the most useful item in your closet?
"Jeans! I've always been a fan of jeans, even while I was working for "Diesel". But since we established "Zucker", I only wear our jeans – "Boyfred" or "Skinny", mainly thanks to the precise figure and soft fabric".
What will you never wear for work?
"Skirt. That’s an item I will never wear".
Take away, delivery or lunch outside?
"I usually bring lunch from a nearby restaurant and eat while I work".
Do you have a tip for a successful career?
"To know how to manage your time correctly and to be very efficient, to work in a small but high-quality team that is very committed to the goal".
Do you have a tip for managing a successful wardrobe?
"Buy little but of high quality, take care of items that can be combined with many existing items, on which our brand was established – Wardrobe of essential pieces".
Business entrepreneurship in fashion – possible or pretentious?
"We were able to establish a brand that lives mainly online without a physical store by basing it on the "Direct to customer" principle. In other words – direct sales to the consumer without the “middleman”, with meticulous production in boutique factories abroad, a quality customer base that appreciates the products and enjoys the advantage of online, accessible prices and fast delivery services and our pioneering measurement service called "Home try on", where you order items by measurement and pay only after.
But like any business, especially an online business that is open 24/7, there isn’t a dull moment, the store is always open J We live in a world where the speed of technology and innovation is great and we have to be one step ahead of everyone else – that's the big challenge."
When is the next collection coming out?
"The Spring collection along with the Unisex Capsule Collection (!) are set to release in March. All items can be purchased on our website www.zuckerstudio.com and in the fitting room located in Tzahala neighborhood, 6 Lea and David Izumiz Street (floor -1), Tel Aviv".
