EIGHT30's guide to the key fashion trends to know about for spring/summer 2018
Good morning, spring is here!
Important existential questions like "Where do you celebrate the Passover Seder?“ Fill the air. New designs and models pop up like mushrooms after the rain and the office is handing out holiday coupons again.
So, before you rush to cash in those gift cards on pots for your mother, I've decided to share with you the list of trends you must adopt in spring – summer 2018.
Plastics, vinyl and industrial rubber
It is not clear who decided to up the status of the rubber gloves, plastic bags and other materials that were kept for the cleaning closet. But this summer, plastic is the hottest item (literally) you can decorate yourself with.
Bags that look like transparent plastic bags were presented by the Céline fashion house, shiny rubber dresses were designed by Calvin Klein and "Crocs” (yes, the shoes) were approved by the fashion house Balenciaga. For those who want to adopt the trend in a more refined way, I recommend the stunning vinyl items by Stella and Lori.
Red and pink
The combination of colors – red and pink, which until recently was considered almost impossible – is the most exciting merger seen in the summer of 2018, in my opinion. The unique combination of colors is seen on the routes of the Oscar de la Renta, Isabel Marant, Brandon Maxwell and other fashion houses.
Many shades of pink are now in stores, but it is the combination of sweet colors that upgrades the performance and makes it powerful and unforgettable, like this dress by iBlues.
Lavender
As a tribute to the legendary pop singer who passed away – Prince, the soft purple, also known as Lilac, was chosen for ‘THE’ color for summer 2018 by many prominent galleries and designers such as Victoria Beckham and Michael Kors.
It seems to me that since I was 17 I haven't worn any shade of purple, but when I saw the perfect suit designed by my friends in Castro I couldn’t resist.
Polka dots
Black and white dots, more commonly known as polka dots, are the most up-to-date print you should wear this year. You can find them in almost every store decorating clothes, bags, shoes and other accessories.
Palm Beach glamour
The colorful prints by Marc Jacobs, the summer collection of Versace and the stunning campaign (starring former model Sandy Crawford!!!) left no room for deliberation – this summer I’m in Palm Beach!
Well, chances are it will be ‘Metzizim’ beach in Tel Aviv, but that won’t stop me from adopting the luxurious look of high society women from the 1960's.
Dramatic earrings
So, after reviewing the trends that you should take on this spring – summer 2018, let's freshen up the look with the hottest accessories. This year, these are the earrings that get the seat of honor and will become even more dominant and colorful. Swinging, rustling or twinkling, the main thing being that they are unique, like the magnificent earrings by fine jewellery brand Finem.
X-Girl Sunglasses
Yes, yes … like the Pouch (aka Fanny-Pack), the cat eye glasses returned to us straight from the 1990's. They can be found in many styles and shades by almost all designers.
In short, it’s time to start organizing your closet, get rid of those items that you haven’t worn for years and use the Passover holiday to entertain the latest trends.
Have a happy holiday!
