Today is International Woman's Day. I thought to myself "how this day and femininity in all its glory should be celebrated?" I remember those nights when I entertained the thought of launching a fashion blog and in particular, I remember that empowered feeling that filled me up, since it was up to me to create a magazine that would be used to promote self-love and empowerment. A source of inspiration for us to live our lives as independent, opinionated and successful women.
Since then a few months have passed and I found myself presenting in front of a group of incredible career women. At the end of the presentation a few of those women approached me and revealed their challenges of dressing, in a fashionable way, for the office or mixing trendy items into their look, due to their full figures or for the fact that they're in an advanced stage of their pregnancy.
"Hello! If it works for Kim Kardashian it will work for you!" ;- ) …I was fast to comment.
All you have to do is embrace the advantages of your body. If you were blessed with great lets, small waist or even cheeky pear shaped hips, don't hesitate to highlight them. Create the illusion of height and length with exposing your legs, a small waist with a pretty belt and don't fear a tight skirt or blouse (in a tasteful way of course).
The conversation with these ladies lingered in my mind and I decided to embark on an online search expedition. A short surf led me to Ray Segev – a ray of light. She is an international Plus Size model and a successful blogger, who invests her time and effort into making women, around the world and in our little country, be happier and change the perspectives and preconceptions that exist around the female body image. By exposing new beauty perspectives, Ray succeeds in changing the conversation in the fashion industry – a female achievement that is no less than a revolution if you ask me!
