The cold season is upon us again. Ok, well maybe not yet, but it will be here very soon.
As one who isn't a big fan of the cold, I admit that the move to daylight saving time got me a little excited. So yes, there's nothing exciting about leaving the office when it's already dark, even when it's still early, but on the other hand, the fashion style unique to this season definitely puts a smile on my face… so much so that, after the first rain, I hurried outside dressed in my shiny new knit sweater, only to find out that it's still like 25 degrees outside. What we call "we're definitely NOT in Europe" ;-)
So what's the deal with these knitted items and why do we love them so much?
Last year I dedicated a whole article to knits (you can go ahead and reminisce) and since then a lot has changed. In everything to do with fashion, winter 2017-2018 is characterized by color, brightness and fun. It's a celebration of individuality reflected in the various trends all worn together. So, this year sweaters don’t quite look like the ones Grandma used to knit, but rather have a modern twist to them, like wool that stretches and is slightly fringed at the edges, geometrical shapes, intense colors and patterns that blend several styles of weaving.
This time, I chose to wear the magnificent knitwear I had met during my time in Paris fashion week – the incredibly soft-to-touch sweater, designed by Chloe fashion house and presented in the latest fashion show by Creative Director Clare Waight Keller, and the sophisticated knit dress by the prestigious brand, Barrie which I wrote about after my visit to MÉTIERS D'ART by Chanel.
Speaking of unique and contemporary looks, you can’t help but mention H.Stern’s signature HS collection that is perfectly synched with this season’s self-expression trend. The new collection will soon be published by real women whose scientific and intellectual contributions are recognized worldwide. So, for me, this is another welcomed change in the fashion world.
I hope I've been able to inspire and bring joy and warmth in to your heart, even if it's not really that cold yet.
